Udaipur : A case has been registered against a five star hotel here for not complying with the mandatory provisions of the Foreigners Act on informing details of the guests. The CID special branch has lodged an FIR against the owner and management of the Hotel Raddison Blu, situated at Ambamata for hiding the identification details of some 20 nationals of various countries who had stayed at their hotel during December. At a time when security is a grave concern for the police with threats from terrorist organizations, such negligence by the hospitality industry is being viewed as a serious offence.
“ It is mandatory for the hotels to either inform details or provide C-forms of every foreign guest staying in their hotel within 24 hours of their arrival, however, few do not take it seriously” said Vikram Singh, the Additional SP (CID). There are some 139 hotels in the city who have been clearly instructed to provide details of every foreign tourist lodged with them. “ For those who cannot come to our office, have the ease to furnish the information online. But this is sheer mismanagement and a serious matter since it is not about one or two guests but 20 foreigners which is a big number” Singh said. CID officers who came to know about the negligence during a random check reported it to the officials who lodged a case under section 7/14 of Foreigner’s Act at the Ambamata police station. The 20 tourists are told to be from various countries including China, UK, USA and Australia. “ Case has been registered against the management and the owner of the hotel and if charges are proved, they could face an imprisonment upto five years” the officer held.
