Community members and family had staged protest and serial dharnas since the incident demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Meena, a resident of Kota had been working as an agriculture officer with a lead bank here for some time however, he had shot and stabbed Dinesh Chittora a property dealer to death on November 21, after a long standing row between them. Meena had escaped to Ratlam, Mumbai, Darjeeling, New Delhi and various other places over the period he had been absconding. “His bank accounts had been freezed by the police and mobile put on tracking. He came to Udaipur to borrow money from one of his friend Mahendra Kothari and we nabbed him on time”, said Dr Rajesh Bharadwaj, the additional SP, city. During interrogation, Meena confessed to have committed the murder as Chittora was constantly threatening to kill him and his son. As per the investigation, a tragic angle involving suicide of a woman behind the murder mystery.
Meena had studied agriculture in the Agriculture University here and since his college days in 2005, he had known Dinkar Mogra another property dealer, who is also one of the co-accused in the case. Meena and Mogra had jointly done a property deal and they were in a dispute with Chittora over a vast land spread on 14 bheegas at Nela here. Meena’s wife Brajbala was the owner of the property and after a sale dispute on the land, Chittora had lodged case against the lady who was even arrested by the police. The woman had hung herself at Kota some time ago after failing to bear the humiliation and Meena had therefore planned to kill Chittora to settle the score, police said.
