Adm seeks naval help to search drowned girl in Udaipur lake

Udaipur : Efforts of the rescue teams to search the 4-year girl  who drowned in Lake FatehSagar here a day ago went futile on Tuesday as there was no trace of the child even after 24 hours of the accident. Chahek alias Ekta daughter of Vidhyadhar Saini, resident of Loha Mandi, Jaipur is missing after the boat she was having a joy ride in, swamped in the lake. Saini’s condition remained critical on the second day and the girl’s mother is in a state of shock. Relatives and family members have arrived from Jaipur to console the woman.

The incident took place on Monday evening around 4.30 when two boats collided with each other and one of them capsized. Eight passengers including the driver fell into the water, everyone except Chahek were pulled out but the child couldn’t be located even after 12 hours of intense search on Tuesday.

After the police department demanded for expertise  assistance in  hunting the girl, the administration has approached the NCC Navy wing. “ We are doing everything we can to find the child and seeking experts help in the case” Udaipur collector Bishnu Charan Mallick told Udaipur Kiran. The rescue team conducted the search operation on the basis of the CCTV footages. “ The area where the child drowned in rocky and shallow. The body is feared to have stuck up between rocks hence the swimmers are not able to locate her. We have no equipments to find the actual location” ADM-city O.P Bunkar told Udaipur Kiran.

The authorities have sought assistance from the NCC Navy wing who may arrive for help on Wednesday. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against the boat driver for negligence and accidental death. The driver Mohsin is in the police custody. The Road Transport Department has been instructed to check the fitness certificate and other mandatory provisions for water rides. Meanwhile rescue teams from the Udaipur municipal corporation and policemen conducted search operation from 8 till late evening.
