Udaipur : In a shocking turn of events, Jamudi the 90-year-old woman who was believed to have been burnt to death at Kalipole village of Salumber tehsil, was found alive on Monday. The old woman was not in the house when the accused had reportedly set it on fire on Saturday night, but had been at one of their relative’s home seven kilometers away from the village.
“ The story had been a fake one and the old woman was not inside the house. The ashes and bones found were that of some animals, not any human” said Herambh Joshi, circle inspector at Salumber police station. “ The whole story was made up by Bhera, Jamudi’s son who wanted to settled scores with Mana over some long standing dispute. Circumstantial evidences and difference of facts stated by family members made us doubt even more and our informers found the woman to be alive at her relatives house in a nearby village, the officer said. The police had doubted why the men in the family had not rescued the old lady when the house was on fire. On Monday evening, the old woman was given in custody to her daughter who lived in another village. A case against Bhera and others will be lodged for misleading the police, Joshi said.
